'Earth Day' Awareness Should Be All Year Long

Earth Day Awareness

April 22 commemorates Earth Day, which represents the birth of the 1970 environmental movement and therefore, Americans have a "day" to reflect and recommit to doing what they can to preserve the earth and its resources.

While Today is Earth Day 2016, in the traditional sense (in terms of celebration)...we should embrace the responsibility of everyday being a day on earth, thereby making every day an Earth Day.

To fully understand the motivating passion that gave us this day to remember the earth, you have to revisit history, where it all started and measure the gravity of dedication.

Startling Truth About Junk Mail and How It Affects Our Planet

FACT: Americans receive enough daily junk mail to produce enough energy to heat 250,000 homes for a day.

The Internet age of technology might make you think about junk email, when referring to 'junk mail'. Both postal junk mail and junk email fit the criteria of 'junk', and both mail boxes overflow with this unwanted marketing material. Nevertheless, only one of these mail forms is detrimental to the environment.

There's a junk-mail-opt-out feature for both postal and junk email. Conversely, those procedures may work and they may not.

Differences between the two mail systems couldn't be more stark, in terms of their worst effect on the individual and/or the environment.

30 Environmental Facts That Will Blow Your Mind!

Last Updated Thursday, April 21, 2016

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a good place to start when seeking to know the nation's pulse on environmental factors that affect the planet, as well as human health.

On the other hand, all one has to do is observe the unusual nature of weather patterns over the past two decades, to know that something is definitely causing environmental uncertainty.

In retrospect though, there is documented proof of destructive floods dating back centuries i.e. the chronicles of the great flood and Noah's Ark for instance.

Local state environmental agencies are in place to ensure the quality of air, land and water. Ironically, Flint, Michigan is not a good example of what these agencies are there to do. Moreover, the lead-poisoning story is just one tragic example of what happens when these agencies fail in their capacities. In reference to Michigan's lead poisoning, perhaps governors have too much power.

But I digress.

What is the 'Greenhouse Effect' and What's Going on With It?

This is a topic that we're all familiar with, directly through personal research or indirectly, hearing it in passing and not paying much attention to the term greenhouse effect.

However, it makes sense to know something about the greenhouse effect.  A global conversation is being had on this subject around the globe, as we speak.

Officials obtain scientific reports on the cause and effect of bad gases, as to adapt policy that reduces human contribution to air pollution.

Many of us hear the term 'greenhouse effect' mentioned on news reports and during political conversations. But we have no idea what the term means.

What IS the "greenhouse effect?" What does it do? How did it happen? These are questions many of us ask when we hear terms like greenhouse gases or greenhouse effect.
